Gifts are given as a reward for commitments made and kept. They are not given automatically but are based on merit. They are given to reinforce personal growth and achievement, beneficial to the collective. Usually educational and of KUUMBA nature. 

These gifts represents the fruits of the labor of the parents and are given as rewards and encouragement to the children to inspire them to continure to practice the values in the coming year.
